"I found this on Pinterest."
"My friend bought the same pair of boots she saw on the Lucchese's Pinterest board."
Pinterest, pinning, pinners... How many times have you heard someone mention these in a casual conversation lately? It seems like everyone is on Pinterest, and pinning has become all the rage recently. Bloggers are writing about it, marketers are giving advice on how to succeed by using it, moms are swearing by the time saving tips they picked up on it... So, what is Pinterest, and why is it so special?
Pinterest (derived from the words "pin" and "interest") is, as Wikipedia puts it, a visual discovery tool that people use to collect their ideas for different projects and interests. But that is not all. Brands use Pinterest to increase awareness of who they are and what they stand for. Consultants and marketers use Pinterest to create virtual collections of their work samples. Artists use Pinterest to make online portfolios. Majority of women use it, among other things, to create online cookbooks consisting of recipes collected from different sources... And this is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg.
Pinterest can be used as a virtual inspiration board or bulletin/cork board where you can neatly organize different ideas, inspiration, and even shopping lists into multiple categories through the use of separate Pinterest boards. The beauty of it all is that, unlike most other social media platforms, Pinterest doesn't require users to interact with others on a consistent basis as a prerequisite for a pleasant experience. If you are on Pinterest as an individual (not a brand or company), unless you want to become widely known and/or popular on this platform, you can stay in your little personal inspiration board corner and still have a wonderful time.
As hART Sense Design produces items which, apart from having to be touched and worn, also need to be seen to be fully appreciated, it was a logical choice for us to jump on the Pinterest bandwagon. With its highly visual content, this platform was a perfect match for us.
Although it took us a few months to really get started - after all, Rome was not built in a day, as the saying goes - we are now at the point where we can say that what the visitors see on our Pinterest account is what we are all about, both professionally and personally. True, there are still a few missing pieces of the puzzle that will be added over time, but the core is there.
If you visit our Pinterest account, apart from our jewelry designs, you will be able to see that we love Western style clothing and accessories, that we are partial to embroidered and hand tooled cowgirl boots, country style weddings, and the romance of living in the country.
You will also notice that we love living in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota, and that we prefer our home decorated in the cottage or western style. You might also conclude that we collect cowgirl quotes, love dogs, horses and birds, and have a taste for cheese and tea.
Doesn't all of this give you an impression that you know us better? We are no longer just another online jewelry seller. Instead, this glimpse into our other interests gives you a feeling that, even though you may have not met us in person, walking into our online shop is almost like walking into your local gallery, where you know the owner and half of the artists who exhibit their work there. And that is exactly where the beauty of Pinterest lies: enabling you to see the glimpses of what motivates and excites us, what drives us to create.
Now that you have gotten to know us better and maybe even started following us on Pinterest, would you like to share what inspires and excites YOU? We are looking for like-minded cowgirls and women of independent spirit to collaborate with us on Pinterest. If you are interested in joining us on this adventure, leave a link to your Pinterest account in the comments below, and if your vision corresponds with ours, we will contact you with more details.
