Appeal following fatal traffic accident near Balmedie

Scottish Police are launching a call for information following a fatal road accident near Balmedie.

The incident happened at around 3:20 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, when a silver Ford Transit pickup truck and a silver Hyundai i40 car collided on the northbound carriageway of the A90 Aberdeen-Peterhead road near Foveran.

Emergency services responded and a 62-year-old man, the driver of the Hyundai, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Transit van was not injured.

The road was closed for approximately nine hours to allow for a full collision investigation.

North East Road Police Unit Sergeant Chris Smith said: “Our thoughts are with the families involved in this accident.

“We are requesting information to help establish all of the circumstances of the incident and would ask anyone who was driving on the road at the time to contact the officers.

“If there are motorists with dashcam footage that could help us with our investigations, please speak to the police. “
