Free transit on New Year’s Day

TRANSLIEN renews its tradition of helping customers get home safely by offering customers free public transportation on New Years Eve from 5 p.m. on December 31 until 5 a.m. on January 1.

Tariff gates will remain open between these times and customers are advised not to use Compass cards or any other payment method. Customers who start their trip before 5:00 p.m. should tap, following normal tapping procedures, to ensure they are billed at the correct rate.

“Providing free and safe transportation on New Years Eve has been a long-standing tradition at TransLink,” TransLink CEO Kevin Quinn said on Wednesday. “Although restrictions prevented us from offering this last year, we are delighted to bring this tradition back and encourage all those celebrating 2022 to choose public transit to get home safely.”
