New Jersey Transit Corporation, often abbreviated as NJ Transit, is a United States-based public transportation system that operates in the state of New Jersey as well as parts of New York and Pennsylvania.
It is the third largest public transport system in the country. The service also offers an app that allows users to purchase passes or tickets and get all available transportation options.
That said, NJ Transit users are now reporting that the app is down or not working. Some say they get a “Flash Ticket Error” message when they try to redeem or book a ticket.
The issue seems to bother many people who are unable to purchase or reserve tickets or show their passes.
Generic solutions such as deleting app data and cache and reinstalling the app seem to make no difference.
Outage Finder – a popular service that provides live outage information – has also seen an increase in reports of the NJ Transit app being down or not working.
A quick glance at the micro-blogging site Twitter indicates that there is many others affected by the same problem. Below are some reports from NJ Transit app users who say the app is down or not working at the moment.
@NJTRANSIT the app is not working because I can’t log in to show my monthly pass. The bus driver gave me a hard time even though I showed her the email of the receipt of the monthly pass purchased. Fortunately, she let me get on the bus. Hopefully the app will be fixed soon!
@NJTRANSIT I would like a refund for the ticket I had to buy because your app was down. You must inform your employees when this is the case and not impose the problem on the customer
Turns out NJ Transit is aware of the issue and said they are working to fix the issue where the app is not working for some. But they haven’t shared a timeline on when he’ll be back.

Update 1 (April 05)
09:39 (IST): Reports on Descent detector now suggest that the outage with the NJ Transit app is apparently resolved.
4:23 p.m. (IST): It looks like the NJ Transit app is down again and users have switched to Twitter report this fault.
Update 2 (April 13)
4:12 p.m. (IST): The recent issue with the NJ Transit app is now apparently resolved as we encountered no new user reports on Twitter.
Update 3 (May 11)
5:22 p.m. (IST): Many users are again reports that the NJ Transit app is down or not working for them. According to reports, it shows an error message saying “Server connection timed out”. Please try again later’.
