Real-Time Location and Arrival Information for Greater Baltimore’s Metro SubwayLink Now Available for Free Download Transit appthe Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transportation Administration (MDOT MTA) announced this week.

Active in over 175 metropolitan areas worldwide, the app provides vehicle location and offers arrival updates every 15-30 seconds as well as turn-by-turn navigation. App users can also receive service alerts and get walking directions to each station entrance and elevator location.

Passengers will have more options to decide which train to take and plan when a train will arrive, MDOT MTA officials said in a news release.

The agency began using real-time positioning and predicted arrival technology in August 2020 for the MARC train. Light RailLink is also expected to go live in the spring of 2022. The initiative is part of a larger effort to create seamless door-to-door travel for riders, MDOT MTA officials said.

“Modernizing Maryland’s transit system leverages technology to make our entire system more integrated, convenient and user-friendly,” said MDOT Secretary Greg Slater. “Metro SubwayLink’s real-time arrival information is a feature riders want and need, and will help make our system more attractive for everyday use by residents, commuters and visitors.”
