The Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) and its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Benonita Bismarck, were honored at the inaugural Responsible Business and Leadership Excellence Awards (RBLEA) ceremony in Accra.
The authority was named ‘Responsible Government Regulator of the Year 2021’ while CEO Ms Bismarck was honored for her outstanding contribution to the development of the shipping industry.
The GSA has been honored for its trade facilitation activities such as conducting seminars on Uncleared Cargo List (UCL) and its effects on state coffers; national education and awareness campaigns on the promotion of local marine insurance, avoidance of demurrage and payment of rent in ports.
It also included the removal of non-tariff barriers through regular dialogue with stakeholders; national exporter forums to build exporter capacity; seminars for public transport truck drivers; regular engagement with maritime service providers to resolve cargo handling issues in ports.
The purpose of the awards program is to advocate for the implementation of sound governance and corporate systems, as well as to prevent practices that impede social development.
Some of the other categories for the awards were Responsible CEO of the Year, Responsible Trade and Investment Leader of the Year, Responsible CSR and Community Development Impact Award, Responsible Brand of of the Year, Responsible Business and Leadership of the Year and Industry Personality. of the year.
The RBLEA is an empowerment-focused initiative that aims to recognize and support the achievements of inspiring businesses at the forefront of responsible values.
It also aims to define and celebrate the vision, achievements and excellence in business leadership in Ghana.
